sneak peek-raegan & joe’s day after session|grand cayman destination wedding photographer

have i mentioned how much i love raegan & joe? because…i so, so do. they were TROUPERS! we’d planned to do a day after session, and when i saw the sunrise time…i gulped. i was sure they were going to hate me for suggesting we get started that early. but 0600 rolled around, and they were there with bells on. (joe replete with his “road sandwich.” i believe it was salami and provolone. vegetarian raegan requested that he chew gum before any kissy kissy to avoid the phenomenon they refer to as “meat mouth”. how can you not love ppl who talk about “road sandwiches” and “meat mouth”?)

we headed to their favourite spot on the island, rum point. there will be another, more exhaustive post later, but here are a few of my quick favourites!

rachel hadiashar of merge said this looked like he was captured on captain hook’s pirate ship and wendy darling was going to save him. i love that little story!

you see that light right there? THAT’S why we had to get up so early. that kind of light is only available just after sunrise and just before sunset…early was better for us; we had the whole beach to ourselves!

also, i cannot believe i’m going to show you this, but…knowing we were shooting on the beach, i wore my swimsuit. i wanted to be able to go anywhere…tam got this shot of me and one of my weird contorted positions (if i’ve photographed you, you KNOW what i’m talking about!)

tammy’s view.

my view

and then we saw a giant stingray. the end.

Some GREAT work here! Love the flare one thanks for visitin my blog too!

Laura Burlton2 June 2009 - 12:39

Um, Oh.my.gawd. Awesome stuff and the sting ray????EEEEK! Funny we were on the beach once and I swear my husband pretty much stepped on one buried under the sand in some VERY shallow water. It swam off without hurting anyone, but he ran out of that water yelling like a little girl, of which we have 2, and he totally abandoned them in the water. No one was hurt though LOL

Oh my goodness I want to be you when I grow up! Your photography is AMAZING!

I came across you through Twitter as Tracy Tesmer mentioned she was shooting with you today.

LOVE your work!!!!!

great photos here! Looks so lovely.

why would you want a 2nd shooter?|destination wedding photographer

tammy edited a few of her favourites from yesterday’s rehearsal…you’ll see mine a bit later, but multiple photographers means:
1. 2 sets of eyes! (and between us, we’ve got 4 cameras.)
2. extra lenses/perspectives. we are intentionally using different lenses from each other to ensure the most variety.
enjoy!

(don’t you want a mojito now?)

aruba, jamaica…caymans, baby.|caribbean destination wedding photographer

i know, that’s not how the song goes…but i’m going to go ahead and say that i think it was a gross oversight on the part of the beach boys to not include the caymans. because, dude. it is awesome here.

tammy and i are in grand cayman for raegan & joe’s wedding…and we are having an incredibly fabulous time! today we walked across the street to one of the prettiest beaches i’ve ever seen.

the water was PEERRRRFECT.

it looked like a postcard, and on top of that…it was the best swimming temperature ever. not creepy bathwater warm, and not too cool to be shocking when you step in…it was just…refreshing and perfect.

(this was on our return trip…first we played…then we played with cameras. bathing suits and cameras do not generally mix, unless you’ve got highly specialised (and expensive!) equipment.)

as we were walking back…this giant lizard, roughly the size of my cat, was startled by us…though, lemme tell ya…NOT AS STARTLED AS ME! i’m not afraid of it…except when i don’t know it’s there, and it suddenly darts past me.

tonight we shot the rehearsal (and partook in probably the world’s greatest rehearsal dinner) and hung out w/ raegan & joe’s super fun friends…in a weird twist…most of them are from the capital district in ny…where i grew up and my parents still live. tammy was amused that i was able to join in the conversation about restaurants, etc…

stay tuned for more from the caymans!

ahhhh. oh i’m sure you’re having the most wonderful time. i LOVED the caymans… must go back someday with the husband… the beach sounds like such a glorious idea right now.

I keep coming back to look at that sparkly sand/water picture. fantastic!

beth & josh: engaged|new york city wedding photographer

beth and josh are getting married in maine in september…they’d originally contacted my friends of the amazing fidelio photography in portland, but they were already booked…so jess sent them my way.  and i’m SOOOO glad she did.  i love beth and josh!  they live in nyc, and the wedding is about 3 hours north of where i am in nh, so i volunteered to drive into the city to shoot them in the places they fell in love and still enjoy spending time together.

aren’t they adorable? i want to make ice cream in beth & josh flavour and eat it for every meal. is that weird to say?

(this one is probably my favourite from the whole session…i love everything about it!)

i love how iconically NY this is. how many movies have you seen this view of the city from central park from? also…they both look sooooo adorable. look at josh’s love crinkled eyes? and that smile he puts on beth’s face.

the bench right next to them said, “one day [someone’s initials here] will ask [someone else’s initials here] to marry him”…and on the bench they were sitting on…

we walked past that guitar man from central park, and i saw a couple sitting exactly like this…and loved it immediately.

this was right near strawberry fields and the imagine tiles and the hotel where john lennon was killed. strawberry fields is a much nicer thing to think about. 😀

after central park, we were all ready for a break! we grabbed some tasty chicken and sweet potato fries (to die for) at the chirping chicken…then headed back to chill for a bit and change into “city clothes”.

we headed up to the roof of their building for a few images.

look at them. are you kidding me? HOT.

i can’t wait for beth & josh’s wedding in maine in september. they’re super fantastc fabulous awesome etc, etc…they took great care of me and made this visit to NYC a total pleasure…which is saying something for this totally-NOT-city-girl who generally professes nothing but distaste for the big apple. b & j…you guys rock my world.

Love the standing one kissing on the bench, great images!

rachel9 May 2009 - 09:38

love the sitting under the trees ones… and also, love that you found bethesda terrace in central park. (it’s kind of cracking me up that you become “caribbean destination wedding photographer” “NYC wedding photographer” etc in your blog titles.)
