marion & scott-engagement

time for true confessions with gwyn: the main reason i get behind w/ blogging is the time it takes to pick my favourites to post here. marion and scott asked for some images to use on their wedding site…so i figured i’d go with their favourites. 😀

another true confession: this is way out of order. this late at night i’m employing the “shotgun” method of completing to-do list items. order and methodology are suspended after midnight.

without further ado…

when i saw marion drive down the road to park, i did a little happy dance in my head. she is BEAUTIFUL…and y’know, scott’s no slouch in the “awesome-bone-structure” department, either. these two have been together for 10 years, and they’re getting married in an apple orchard in september. (seriously…i have AWESOME clients.)

this was my first session with a pet along…she was an amazingly well behaved dog. i love the emotion in this photo.

yeah…a red, british phone both…in the middle of downtown manchester, nh. again with the mental happy dancing.

they were champeeeen jumpers. however, despite the awesome red door, their incredible jumping skills and overall hotness, my favourite thing in this one is how the dog is just kinda…chillin’.

seriously. hott. maybe even hottt.

tell me this doesn’t look like a clothing ad. “buy our jeans! if you wear them, you will look hot like us!”

i’m kind of obsessed with silhouettes, and i try to do one at each session i shoot.

hey guys…i had tons of fun, and marion…i cannot express how glad i was that you knew about that red phone box. see you next month, and i’ll keep brainstorming how to use those apples for some awesome photos! (ps…general readership, if you have any ideas of what to do with an entire orchard full of apples that is not adam and eve, redux, please leave a comment!)

see the rest of the session here.

Gwen, Scott and I had a great time… my mouth is still a little sore 😉

The pictures are absolutely fab! You truly captured how Scott and I feel about each other.

See you on the BIG DAY!

my issue

know what my problem is with this whole blogging thing? i’m so busy doing other stuff that i kind of let it slide…and then more and more and more happens, and i feel like i could type forever.

you know how some people are pithy and succinct? i am NOT one of those people. i am kind of rambly and chatty, and the part where i can type around 100wpm does not help me stem the tidal flow that replaces a normal person’s “stream of consciousness”…

all this to say: please do not give up on this little blog. i have a LOT of updates. 3 weddings, 4 or 5 engagement sessions (i’ve lost count), and my recent trash the dress session in the white mountains…which i am in-utterably excited about.

so, i’m going to get back to that to-do list that is currently longer than i am tall (and, i’m only 5’3″, so…yeah, that expression would carry more weight if i was a center in the WNBA, but if you think about it…a five foot tall to-do list is still pretty insane, right?), but console yourselves with the fact that “blog everything from the last month” features prominently on that list.

halida & jeff AKA "the maine event"

i am SUCH a lucky girl. i love what i do…and i get to meet great new people every week. granted, as a single girl it’s not really the best life strategy…ha!

i’m not sure if it’s ok to have favourites among clients, but…i do. halida and jeff are the cutest, most fun couple i think i’ve ever met. i’ve already gushed about them, but this is going to be one big post of virtual cotton candy.

they got married on june 16 at the inn at peak’s island in portland, me. the chic and organized liz @ cityside events kept everything running so smoothly. the entire day was perfect.

they started off w/ a chartered ferry ride around the harbour. they’re both from the midwest and had lots of out-of-town guests that loved the chance to see maine at its most charming.

(she was really peeking out the window…her room overlooked the ceremony site.)

my favourite thing about this image is halida’s face…she looks so happy and so, ‘yes, my friends. blow me kisses…i deserve them,’ (but in a completely non-bridezilla way, because she was the most laid-back bride i think i’ve ever encountered…and i’ve had some pretty relaxed brides!)

if i had a dollar for every photo i have of these two sharing a secret glance during the ceremony…i could probably fly to hawai’i.

i think this sums up halida perfectly.

she cares a lot about the environment, and asked for flowers that were both local and organic…

h&j with their WONDERFUL parents.

she did everything a little differently…rather than having a traditional bridal party, she had her girlfriends bring her flowers at the beginning of the ceremony to make up her entire bouquet.

the m-o-h…their friendship was so beautiful. at one point, she said, “i would do absolutely ANYTHING for halida, and i know she would for me, as well.”

the mother of the groom and her best friend. h&j’s family and friends were warm and welcoming…and after meeting them, it’s clear how they became the wonderful people that they are.

from their first dance. this is my favourite from the day.

h&j, i know i’ve told you this multiple times, but i’m SOOO glad it worked out for me to be a part of your day. i’d better stop while i’m ahead…this whole thing is way gushier than i like to be. 😛

(see the rest of my favourites here.)

you rock!

i don’t know when you got most of your shots, gwyn. one of the things we didn’t want in a photographer was a pushy, anal-type who thought the photography was more important than the ceremony. halida was a beautiful bride and you somehow managed to capture not only her beauty, but her spirit as well. and you did it how? and when? we didn’t even know you were there most of the time. you’re the greatest! thank you! WE were the lucky ones! we almost didn’t get a photographer and we got you! you were the icing on the cupcake!! dhatic

reviews

1. i watched “when a man loves a woman” (13 years after it came out…) last night, and OMG, it is SOOOO sad. i didn’t cry, because i do not cry at movies. or weddings. or…very many things at all, but my eyes were slightly prickly. 😀

2. the harry potter book was tremendous. you should read it.

3. have you ever watched the series “i propose” on the style network? it is SOOOO cute. (though, most people who would find their way to this site are probably past that point. hehe.)

speaking of, a big CONGRATULATIONS to a fantastic photographer and my friend, rachel. she just got engaged in montreal.
