back in september, wait…no, let’s rewind further than that. back to last year. i got to grab coffee and have delightful conversation with a seacoast area photographer who told me, “when i redesign my site…and when i lose X pounds?…i’m callin’ you.” i was flattered and promptly forgot. fast forward back to september…melissa sent me an email saying, “it’s time!” her site is in development, and she’s been working hard (and is looking GREAT!) so i went to exeter to photograph her with her sweet family. thanks for the fun times and walking tour of exeter, guys!

on sunday i met up with jill + greg (who went to high school with my beloved sarah + zach) in NJ to capture this time in their lives when they’re young, independent, living in (near) the big apple. babies are the next step for them, but they’re enjoying RIGHT NOW, and they wanted some pictures to prove it (which i wholeheartedly approve of!) thanks for the adventures, jill + greg! i hope you love your pictures as much as i do.

once upon a time, my dear friend rachel lived a couple blocks away. it was delightful. one or the other of us would call, “what are you doing?” “nothing. just sitting here in my PJ’s watching a movie.” “wanna go get _______?” “sure!”

but those days are gone…she’s all grown up. got her PhD and left me for the ocean state so she can be Dr. Rachel. she recently celebrated her birthday, so i made her a dress…and then asked if i could play dress-up with her and photograph her. this is the result of our fun afternoon yesterday!

last friday i met up with dana & brad at their house in new castle…they TOTALLY lucked out…their landlord used to live in their home and every year her gardens were on the rye garden circuit…they were pretty amazing. swing, hammock, waterfall into tiny pond, and firepit! yeah. i wouldn’t mind living there, either! after we made sure to get some pictures of their new puppy, ‘bama, we headed in to portsmouth…where they met, fell in love, and got engaged. thanks for hanging out guys! and i’m TOTALLY up for coming down to st. john for the wedding!

summer in germany

hi everyone! i’m in germany! i love germany. LOVE it. i’ve been to a few european countries, but i’ve spent the most time in germany. i can’t say it’s my enduring love…but it’s my first love. i landed yesterday, and after we reached our destination…we went for a walk in wiesbaden. i love that my split-up-over-several-days session with billi & lauren includes regular everyday activities. yesterday included a walk to the park in wiesbaden center…we went through a garden and had a drink at the biergarten near the casino…

i hope someday when/if i have a family i have the chance to bring a photographer along to capture some of our everyday type rituals!

and now, i think the tylenol PM will kick in…at least i hope so! we’ve got a lot more fun times planned for the weekend, so my crazy sleep cycle needs to get on board with this europe thing.

every now and then, le camera doesn’t focus quite so quickly as i would like it to…usually, that means BAHLEETED, but sometimes the combination of blurry shapes and light and color is really lovely. i had one of these happy accidents on saturday.

this one was bp’s request. (bryan p…everyone calls him bp…except me, when i think i’m being SO CLEVER, then i call him british petroleum.) i can’t decide what i love more…their tight jeans and raybans, the ukelele that really was a non-negotiable as a ridealong, the vintage and repurposed aesthetic of their baby accoutrements, or just how much fun they are as people. their little nugget is gonna be one lucky kid! (who should be making his or her appearance THIS WEEK!)

i’m headed out soon to shoot in NYC with nicki (who you might remember), but yesterday i went and hung out with the adorable natalie & bryan. the light and spring flowers were magic. you’ll be seeing more of these two!

today i met up with carolyn + jonah at odiorne state park (yeah yeah, i know! SAME DAY BLOGGING…AMAZING.) they are SO FREAKING CUTE. not to mention ridiculously photogenic. this picture below…FIRST FRAME OF THE SESSION. unheard of…magic at first click? no way. and yet…carolyn and jonah pulled it off.

i asked them how they met and was told, “at a house party.” but it wasn’t quite as simple as, “hey, carolyn…meet jonah. jonah, carolyn.” he showed up in a wig…with a bandana…she wanted nothing to do with him…but somehow the conversation turned to fishing, and a seed was planted…you see, carolyn is the dream of half the men in new england…totally gorgeous…but she can hang with the guys in an ice fishing shack…that’s when jonah knew she’d passed the test. (and he passed the test when he informed her it was a wig…and he turned out to be cuter than his first impression. )

i’m pretty sure she looked amazing in every. single. shot. i. took. can you imagine how incredible she’s going to be as a bride?!

they actually ASKED if they could climb this tree…seriously. ASKED! i pretty much rushed to give her a boost…jonah said this tree is the first thing he noticed upon their arrival to the park…i was more than happy to acquiesce to his desires for photos with it.

thanks so much for meeting up with me in rye today, you two…i had so much fun, and you are unbelievably adorable together…i’m glad you’ve found your permanent ice-fishing partners.

first bridal show!

yesterday i had my first bridal show experience…i participated in the nh wedding magazine’s bridal show at the haverhill country club…there were a lot of awesome vendors there, and i talked with some super fun brides. (if you’re visiting my site after meeting me at the show, hi! welcome!)

i figured if i was gonna do a bridal show…i was gonna do it up right…i’m so, so, so pleased with how the booth and promotional materials turned out. it was a loooot of work, but it reflects me and my style-both who i am as a person and how i shoot-so well, that today i’ve got that satisfied, “i worked hard, and it was worth it.” feeling.
